Ghana WAFU B U17: Golden Eaglets Thrash Black Starlets 4-2 In Cape Coast

Nigeria Golden Eaglets began their quest to win the WAFU B U-17 with a emphatic 4-2 victory against hosts Ghana at Cape Coast Stadium on Saturday.

The rivalry between Ghana and Nigeria heralded the game in a full capacity Capacity Cape Coast Stadium.

However, it took just 12 minutes before we saw the first goal of the tournament as Emmanuel Michael scored from a set piece to give the Golden Eaglets the lead.

With a minute to end the first half, Precious Williams doubled Nigeria lead to make it 2-0 as the Golden Eaglets headed to the dressing room with two goals advantage.

Nigeria returned to the second half looking more dangerous and in the 53rd minute,Jubril Azeez increased Golden Eaglets’ tally.

Ghana finally got a breather in the 58th minute as Abdul Rasak Salifu reduced the deficit to make it 1-3.

Undone with scoring, the Golden Eaglets restored their three goals lead through Light Ike with an assist from Yahaya Lawal in the 78th minute.

Ghana were able to score their second of the game, but were no match to Lucky Ugbade tutored Golden Eaglets as the game ended 4-2.

Up next for the Golden Eaglets is Togo on Tuesday.

The finalists of this tournament automatically gets a slot in the u17 AFCON thereby serving as a means of qualification for the u17 world cup.
