Nigeria WAFCON 2022: Super Falcons Shun Training Over Unpaid Allowances

In protest over unpaid incentives and allowances, Super Falcons skipped practice on Wednesday night ahead of the WAFCON 2022 third place playoff.

Players’ unpaid bonuses and allowances, which had gone unpaid for years, sparked their protest.

At the current 2022 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations in Morocco, the Super Falcons have not yet received their bonuses.

On Wednesday morning, the players discussed the problem with representatives of the Nigeria Football Federation.

It should be remembered that the Super Falcons have previously engaged in similar protests.

After being eliminated from the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup in France, the players protested unpaid incentives.

They wouldn’t leave the hotel until their unpaid bonuses from 2016 were resolved.

In the third-place game at WAFCON 2022 on Friday, the nine-time African champions will face the She-polopolo of Zambia.

The match is scheduled to take place at the Stade Mohamed V in Casablanca.
