Liverpool Chamberlain Ruled Out Of Community Shield After Injury

Winger Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain reportedly had a “severe” hamstring injury and will miss Liverpool Community Shield against Manchester City on Saturday.

Liverpool manager confirmed this during his pre-match conference ahead of Saturday game at the King Power Stadium.

On July 15, in Singapore, the 28-year-old sustained the injury while playing for Liverpool against Crystal Palace.

Klopp added that it will be “two, three weeks” until goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher is able to play again.

With Oxlade it will take longer. It’s a serious hamstring injury and it will take longer,” said Klopp.

“But it’s a hamstring, and we all hate this word, we hate the injury but anyway it happens from time to time and now Ox was the one.”

Since moving to Liverpool from Arsenal in 2017, Oxlade-Chamerlain has experienced a number of setbacks due to injuries, including a knee issue that forced him to miss all of April 2018 due to his absence.

Kelleher is still out after suffering an unknown injury in June while representing the Republic of Ireland abroad.

Yeah, Caoimhin felt something after the international game and everybody, the medical department there, told him it’s fine and will be good after holiday,” Klopp said.

“He came back and first training [session] felt it again.

“We checked it and it was not good so I think he will be another two, three weeks and then he should be fine.”
