CAF Champions League CAFCL:Eguma Optimistic Of Rivers United Ability To Overcome Obstacles

Stanley Eguma, Rivers United’s technical adviser, acknowledged that the road ahead is difficult but thought the team has what it had to overcome the obstacles.

The CAF Champions League group stage draw was held on Tuesday in Cairo, Egypt, and the Nigeria champions were given a challenging path there.

If Rivers United wants to compete in the competition’s group stage, they would have to get past Wydad Casablanca of Morocco and Watanga FC of Liberia.

Eguma responded to the draw’s outcome by acknowledging that it will be difficult, particularly against Wydad, but emphasized that they must first defeat Watanga before discussing the Moroccan team.

It’s a good draw for me, anyone can be your opponent in a competition. After all, for you to be a champion, you must meet tough opposition.

I’m not surprised to see a draw against Watanga FC as our first opponent, we are going to prepare well to come victorious.

It’s going to be a very tough game, Rivers United against Wydad Casablanca of Morocco who are the defending champions.

They have been there and have a lot of experience and they have won it in the past but we are also equal to the task.

For now, we are concerned with the Watanga FC of Liberia, that is the first target, we have to cross the hurdle before talking about Wydad,” he said.
