The tournament, which will have 32 teams for the final time, will feature 48 teams when it is held in the United States, Mexico, and Canada in 2026.

This World Cup will be played over a shorter period of time, roughly 29 days, due to the extreme summer heat in Qatar, taking place from late November to mid-December. This will be the first World Cup not to take place in May, June, or July.
