Nigerian Players abroad Bassey On Target For Ajax In 4-0 Victory Over Volendam

Calvin Bassey scored his first goal on Saturday as Ajax defeated Volendam 4-2 away in the Netherlands Eredivisie.

The victory ended Ajax’s streak of four straight losses (three defeats, one draw).

The Eredivisie champions entered the contest after Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League matchday three loss to Napoli at home by a score of 6-1.

Ajax captain Dusan Tadic had given them the lead on 17 minutes from the penalty spot when Bassey scored to make it 2-0.

In a 4-0 victory over Falkirk in the Scottish League Cup on November 10, 2020 at Rangers, Bassey last scored a goal.

After nine league games, Ajax is back in first place with 22 points after beating Volendam.

However, if AZ Alkmaar defeats Utrecht on Sunday, the Amsterdam club will relegate to second place.
