CAF Champions League CAFCC: Rivers United Thrash Al Nasr 5-0, Edge Closer To Group Stage

After sweeping Al Nasr of Libya 5-0 in the first leg of their CAF Confederation Cup playoff match, Rivers United earned a spot in the lucrative group round.

From the very beginning to the very end, the Port Harcourt club dominated the match.

The home team took the lead on minute 12 thanks to a penalty kick from seasoned defender Ebube Duru.

A superb finish from Kazie Enyinnaya two minutes later doubled Rivers United’s lead.

A minute before halftime, Ghanaian midfielder Paul Acquah gave Rivers United another goal for their persistent pressure on the visitors.

After the break, Rivers United continued their usual style of play in an effort to add to their goal total.

In the 64th minute, Duru added another penalty to make it 4-0.

Eight minutes later, Malachi Ohawume’s thundering shot gave the Port Harcourt team a new boost in their lead.

On November 9, the second match will take place at the Martyrs Stadium in Benghazi.

The competition’s group stage will be reached by the overall winners.
