Friendly Cypriot Referee, Theouli To Officiate Portugal Nigeria Friendly

The 2022 World Cup-bound Portugal and Nigeria will play an international friendly on Thursday at the Estádio José Alvalade in Lisbon, and top Cypriot referee Chrysovalantis Theouli has been nominated to serve as the match’s official referee.

Theouli will be accompanied by his two countrymen Michael Soteriou (1st Assistant Referee) and Marios Kalogirou (2nd Assistant Referee), while Portuguese referee Miguel Nogueira will serve as the 4th official, according to information obtained by A Bola.

All tickets for the game on Thursday have already been sold out, despite the absence of a few significant talents like captain Cristiano Ronaldo and top scorer in the Italian Serie A and fiery Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen.

Similar to the Super Eagles, the Portuguese Selecao will once again enjoy enthusiastic fan support since the Nigerian Community in Lisbon is encouraging locals to attend games and show their support.

There will be excitement at the 50,095 capacity Estádio José Alvalade since, according to the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF), all of the tickets that were offered for sale on its website and all of those that were offered for sale at Continente stores were sold.

On Thursday, the game is scheduled to begin at 7.45 p.m. Nigerian time.
