Ben White departed England’s World Cup squad midway through the competition, although he later joined his Arsenal teammates in Dubai for training.
Although a tabloid this week reported that White’s resignation was the result of a dispute with assistant manager Steve Holland, the English Football Association confirmed the center-back resigned for “personal reasons.”
Before departing the Qatari camp, White did not take part in any of the Three Lions’ three group matches.

“Ben left for personal reasons. We made that very clear and I think especially in this day and age it is very important that a situation like that is respected,” said England boss Gareth Southgate on the eve of his side’s quarterfinal defeat to France on Saturday.
Prior to joining his teammates for a mid season training camp before the start of the Premier League on December 26, White had been given some time off by Arsenal.
