Nigeria League NPFL: Akwa United Beat Shooting Stars as Rivers United Share Spoils

Akwa United easily defeated Shooting Stars of Ibadan 2-0 on Sunday in Uyo, when the Nigeria Professional Football League NPFL resumed following the general elections break.

The hosts won thanks to two early goals from Ubong Friday and Muritala.

The Abia Warriors held the league’s defending champions Rivers United to a 1-1 tie.

Nweke Kalu scored for Abia Warriors in the 48th minute, but the host equalized to tie the game at 1-1.

Rangers internationals came from behind to defeat Bayelsa United 2-1 in Awka.

The visitors took the lead in the 35th minute through Alex Oyowah, but the hosts came back with two second-half penalties from Godwin Obaje to win 2-1.

Bendel Insurance maintained its unblemished record with a 1-1 tie against Enyimba International in Aba.

Emeka Obioma scored from the penalty spot for the hosts in the 44th minute, before Imade Osaranekhoe equalized for Benin Arsenal.
