Uganda Express FC recovers from Vipers SC defeat to floor Maroons

Express FC recovered from Tuesday’s 5-2 thrashing at the hands of Ugandan Premier League champions Vipers SC to beat Maroons 2-0 at the Mutesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku.

Boban Zirintusa and marksman Allan Kayiwa scored for Express to go to 34 points in 10th place on the league table. Maroons, who have enjoyed an impressive season of 10 wins out of 27 matches so far, remain fourth on 40.

This was Express’ first win since April 18 when they beat Busoga United 3-0. They have since drawn three times and lost twice. On the other hand, Maroons have won four and drawn one of their last five matches coming into this one.

Zirintusa put Express ahead three minutes into the second half before the scorer turned helper, creating for Kayiwa to score the latter’s 12th goal of the campaign.

Meanwhile, relegated Onduparaka FC defeated Black Power 1-0 while Gaddafi battled to a 0-0 draw against UPDF.
