South Africa PSL: Kaizer Chiefs positive ahead of Chippa United clash – Shabalala

Kaizer Chiefs player Mduduzi Shabalala is confident they will get their 2023-24 Premier Soccer League (PSL) campaign on a high note when they take on Chippa United on Sunday.

The Glamour Boys get their season underway at the Moses Mabhida Stadium, where they will be aiming to give their fans a winning start to the campaign. Amakhosi showed signs of potential on their recent pre-season tour of Tanzania and Botswana, though they didn’t manage to win either of their games.

Ahead of the Chippa game, Shabalala said as quoted by the club’s official website: “So far so good,” adding: “We’ve been doing very well in training and we are looking forward to our first game. We are feeling positive. There’s a lot of improvement in the team but, of course, what is important is getting results, which we haven’t done as well as we would have liked.

“We are looking forward to putting that right against Chippa and getting three points.”

On what to expect from Chippa United, the 19-year-old said: “They have been saying a lot of things about us, but we just want to go out there and express ourselves with positive energy and willingness to fight for the team,” adding: “They are a good side, with some very good players, so we are expecting a tough contest.”

The match will kick off at 15:00 (local time) and will be broadcast live on SuperSport channel 202.
