Mali Mali FA President Arrested For Embezzlement Ahead Of Election

The current president of the Malian Football Federation, Mamatou Toure, was detained and jailed for embezzling state funds ahead of the election on August 29.

After formally launching his bid for reelection on Wednesday, the head of Malian football was detained.

The strong man of Mali football is charged with embezzling state monies beginning in 2013, when he served as the National Assembly’s accountant.

Toure is having a difficult time because Salaha Baby, another contender, is also interested in the job.

Before announcing the report to the sports authorities, Salaha had discussed embezzlement throughout his campaign and accused the government of attempting to disqualify his candidature.

21 clubs, six regional leagues (Bamako, Kayes, Ségou, Sikasso, Mopti, and Gao), and three football families (associations of coaches, medics, and referees) currently support Toure.
