Transfers Done Deal: UD Almeria bolster squad with signing of Iddrisu Baba

UD Almeria have confirmed the signing of Ghana midfielder Iddrisu Baba ahead of the new season.

The arrival of the 27-year-old Black Star was revealed in a statement: “UD Almeria have made a new summer signing for the imminent 2023-24 season. Iddrisu Baba is a defensive midfielder who moves on loan from RCD Mallorca with an option to buy.

“The footballer, 27 years old and 1.84m tall, was born in Ghana, but he also has Spanish nationality. Since the 2018-19 campaign, the Accra native has been an RCD Mallorca first team member playing 150 games, 91 of them in the top flight of Spanish football.”

The statement added: “The Ghana international is a footballer whom Vicente Moreno knows perfectly since he followed his instructions at RCD Mallorca. The latest UD Almería recruit is going to boost the midfield along with summer signing Dion Lopy. Baba is a top-flight experienced, dynamic, and strong central and defensive midfielder.”

Having initially joined Mallorca in 2014 after transitioning from Leganes’ youth team, the 27-year-old midfielder made a notable mark, accumulating a total of 91 appearances during his tenure with the club. However, Baba Iddrisu faced limited playing time with the club during the previous season, primarily due to injuries. These recurring injury concerns have been present over the past two seasons.
