Black Stars abroad Kudus scores as Ajax defeat Heracles Almelo in opener

Ghana international Mohammed Kudus was among the goals as Ajax kicked off their Eredivisie season with a 4-1 victory against Heracles Almelo at the Johan Cruijff ArenA Stadium on Saturday.

The 23-year-old Black Star, who is being linked with a transfer move to Brighton and Hove Albion and Arsenal, was instrumental as he scored the second goal with the others coming from Jakov Medic, and Steven Bergwijn (2). Maurice Steijn’s team fell behind 0-1, but with a magnificent goal, Medic equalised on Ajax’s behalf just before half-time.

The crucial 2-1 from Kudus came rather late in the game, but it was well-deserved. The Black Star controlled a cross with his left foot and placed the ball at the far left of the pole to beat Heracles goalkeeper Michael Brouwer.

Via Bergwijn, Ajax extended their lead in the final moments of the match by two goals, securing a 4-1 victory. Kudus, who managed 60 touches on the ball and a remarkable 85 percent passing accuracy throughout the match, could still leave Ajax this summer, as Steijn said that anything can happen with the talented attacking midfielder.
