South Africa Hugo Broos Announces Squad For Namibia Game

Hugo Broos, the coach of Bafana Bafana, has selected his final 23-man team for the international friendlies against Namibia and DR Congo next month.

In 2023, Broos’ charges will host Namibia on September 9 (kickoff is at 15h00), and DR Congo on September 12 (kickoff is at 17h00). These games will be part of the coach’s preparations for the 2026 Fifa World Cup qualifiers in November as well as the Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast in January.

Both games will take place at Orlando Stadium in Johannesburg’s Soweto neighbourhood.

The two games, according to Bafana Bafana’s coach, would enable him to form a side more closely resembling the one he envisions for the 2026 Fifa World Cup qualifiers and the upcoming Afcon.

“We worked on it in the last seven or eight months to have that squad, to have that selection of 23, 25, 28 players.

“We have it now,” he said. “In these two coming friendly international matches, we have a few injuries and we can give the opportunity to other players to prove themselves, try to earn a place in the squad.

“So I think it’s a very good situation.”

Broos stated that he is content to utilise the two games to assess the abilities of other players.

“As the proud Betting Partner to Bafana Bafana, we are thrilled to stand beside the pride of our nation in anticipation of the remarkable journey that awaits them.

“The chosen final line-up represents a blend of experience, skills and versatility that we are confident will carry the team to success.

According to Michelle Henriques Colborne, marketing director at 10bet South Africa, “As they step onto the pitch, they carry with them the hopes of a nation, and as 10bet and as a country, we stand with them and support them every step of the way, as their biggest fans!”
