Guinea AFCON 2023Q:Diawara Invites Two Players Ahead Of Malawi Game

For their next TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations dead rubber against Malawi, Guinea coach Kaba Diawara has picked two new debutants in his squad.

Naby Keita, the Syli National team’s injured captain, is not included in the 23-man roster for their upcoming game against the Flames.

After excelling for the Under-23 team, defenders Madio Keita of French club Auxerre and Mohamed Cherif Camara of Guinean team Hafia FC have been called up.

On September 9th, coach Diawara announced the two fresh call-ups for the trip to Malawi: left-back Madio Keita and defender Mohamed Cherif Camara, both promoted from the Under-23 team that just competed at the U23 AFCON.

As Diawara keeps improving the Syli Nationale team with an eye towards the next generation, their advancement offers a glimpse into the future.

In order to help the young players, veteran midfielders Moussa Camara and Ibrahima Cisse have returned to the team.

After being absent from Guinea’s most recent set of matches in June, the midfielders Cisse and Camara are back on the team.

As Diawara looks to the future, young people who have been watching patiently get chances to shine.

When Guinea travels to Malawi on September 9, the talented young players who were kept in the team will be anxious for chances.

Keita, a star and captain located in Europe, is not available since he is still healing from an adductor injury that has kept him from playing this season.

Mohamed Bayo, a talented striker, has returned after regaining his best form while on loan from Clermont Foot to French club Lille.

After an undefeated season, Guinea has already secured its place in the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations finals in January.

Diawara is using the game to add depth even though Guinea has already qualified for the AFCON championships in Cote d’Ivoire next year as the group champion.

Guinea will have the chance to hone tactical unity and discover new talent during the game in Lilongwe.

The unity created by this practise will help Guinea going into the crucial 2026 World Cup qualifying matches in March.

As this promising Guinea generation grows, Diawara’s forward-thinking team selection reveals he has one eye on the future.

When the World Cup comes to North America the following year, the seeds sown today might bring fruit.
