Tanzania Lule takes over as Singida FG part ways with Hans Van Pluijm

Tanzanian Mainland Premier League outfit Singida Fountain Gate have picked Mathias Lule as caretaker coach after parting ways with Hans Van Pluijm.

A statement signed by the club’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Olebile Sikwane confirmed the exit of the Dutch tactician and wished him the best of luck. “On behalf of the Board of Directors, management, sponsors, stakeholders, and membership of Singida Fountain Gate FC, I wish to announce the resignation of coach Hans Van de Pluijm,” read part of the statement, adding: “Hans has been with the club for some time now helping the team achieve big milestones. However, as per this announcement, Hans has decided to resign for reasons attached to availing more time for his personal undertaking.”

The statement continued: “Hans will forever be part of the club’s history having recorded a historic achievement for the club last season finishing in the top four and qualifying the club for the current CAF Confederations Competition in which recently he has helped the team to advance to the 2nd round in the competition.

“We are profusely indebted to his service to the club, the commitment and professionalism with which he always carried himself throughout his many coaching spells with us. In the meantime, the assistant coach Lule Mathias assumes the caretaker coach role until the club makes further announcements. We thank Hans and wish him well for the future.”

Pluijm’s last match at the helm of the Singida-based giants was a 2-0 defeat they suffered from JKU of Zanzibar in the second leg match of the Confederation Cup. They however made it to the second preliminary round courtesy of a 4-3 aggregate victory over the Zanzibar giants.

In Tanzania, aside from steering Singida, he also coached Azam FC and Young Africans (Yanga SC).
