Transfers Everton to make loan bid for West Ham’s Maxwel Cornet

Everton are preparing a bid to take Maxwel Cornet on loan from West Ham for the season as the Toffees make last one push to bolster their attack.

That is according to a report from The Telegraph, which notes that Sean Dyche wants to be reunited with the Ivorian as the Hammers target Filip Kostic. The winger was signed by Dyche at Burnley and is keen on a reunion with his former boss at Goodison Park.

Demarai Gray has been subject to approaches from Saudi Arabia and Premier League clubs and could leave before the deadline, which would leave Dyche with a hole to fill in attack. Cornet would fit into their budget this summer with minimal outlay for the loan.

Cornet played 15 times during the last campaign under David Moyes but suffered injury problems that limited his action. He has so far made just one appearance this season. Dyche’s message after the Doncaster win was “we will see” about further additions before the deadline on Friday. In Beto, he has a No 9 who will benefit from players such as Cornet delivering chances, as Everton look for their first Premier League points of the season.

An inquiry was also made to the Hammers over the availability of Danny Ings earlier this week. The England international was wanted by former manager Frank Lampard back in January, but it remains to be seen whether the current Europa Conference League holders would consider sanctioning a deal so late in the day.
