Women Football FKF Cup: Ulinzi Starlets to face Kibera Soccer Ladies in final

Ulinzi Starlets advanced to their third consecutive final in the FKF Women’s Cup after clinching victory against Kenya Police Bullets on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at Dandora Stadium.

Kenya Police Bullets initially took the lead in the 64th minute through Lydia Akoth’s penalty goal. However, their advantage was short-lived as Lucy Akoth equalized just seven minutes later, leading to a penalty shoot-out. The shoot-out concluded 4-2 in favor of Ulinzi Starlets, with Phiona Ariko’s crucial save from a Mercy Njeri penalty securing her team’s qualification.

In the other semi-final, Kibera staged a comeback to defeat Zetech Sparks 2-1. Despite Zetech’s initial lead courtesy of Yvonne Kavere’s penalty, Kibera turned the tide in the second half. Lillian Mmboga’s goal in the 62nd minute kickstarted their resurgence, with Stella Odhiambo adding a second just three minutes later.

Zetech Sparks will now contest the third-place playoff against Kenya Police Bullets, while Ulinzi Starlets will battle Kibera Soccer Ladies in the final. The FKF Women’s Cup final is scheduled for June 16, 2024.
