Kenya Struggling AFC Leopards deserved a point against Bandari – Trucha

AFC Leopards coach Tomas Trucha believes his team did not deserve to lose in their FKF Premier League fixture against Bandari at Mbaraki Sports Club on Sunday.\

Taking charge of Ingwe for the first time since replacing Tom Juma, the 52-year-old Trucha watched helplessly as the team succumbed to a 1-0 defeat, their third of the season. Speaking after the game, Trucha said: “It is football, it is football, we made a mistake or two and the opponent scored, we had a chance or two that we did not score, and I think the result should have been 0-0 or 1-1.”

Bandari coach John Baraza praised his charges for sticking to instructions insisting they deserved to carry the day. “It is a good win, and I am happy my players played according to instructions, they stuck to what we told them in training and during the pre-match meeting, so I feel we deserved to win the game,” said Baraza.

The defeat left Ingwe in position 17 of the 18-team table with four points from seven matches, while Bandari jumped to eighth with 10 points. Meanwhile, Gor Mahia are one point away from catching up with Posta Rangers at the summit following their 1-0 victory against Tusker at Kasarani Stadium.

A first-half goal from Benson Omalla ensured K’Ogalo moved to 15 points, one fewer than Rangers, who lost their fixture 3-1 against FC Talanta. Despite the win, K’Ogalo coach Jonathan McKinstry was not impressed with how his charges played.

“We were not at our best passing, we conceded possession a little bit, we gave away one or two sloppy passes in the midfield and that was frustrating and that is why we put in a bit of energy in the second half,” said McKinstry, adding: “We ultimately created the best chances in the game and if we were a little bit more clinical in front of goal, we could have seen a three-goal difference in the game rather than a one-goal difference.”

Shabana’s poor defending in the last minutes of the game came to the foe yet again as they settled for a 2-2 draw against Nairobi City Stars. Tore Bobe were destined for their second victory of the campaign until the 84th minute when they conceded a penalty which was converted by Vincent Owino.

Shabana coach Sammy Okoth blamed the draw on carelessness by saying: “We were careless in our defending, still we conceded the first goal due to poor reaction but we did not lose the game. In the second goal, the penalty was unnecessary. If the defender was keen enough, he could not have made that foul.”

Sofapaka picked their first win after defeating Kenya Police 1-0. The defeat was also the first for Police’s new coach Zdravko Logarusic while Kakamega Homeboyz grinded out an important 1-0 away win against Nzoia Sugar at Sudi Stadium.
