FIFA U17 WORLD CUP FIFA U-17: Diouf Nets Brace To Give Senegal A Win Over Argentina

African champions Senegal defeated Argentina 2-1 in Bandung to create one of the most striking outcomes of the FIFA U-17 World Cup Indonesia 2023 thus far, thanks to a brace from Amara Diouf in the first half.

After just six minutes, Diouf, whose powerful running and amazing dribbling captured everyone’s attention, opened the score. After gaining possession of the ball on the left, the captain fired an incredible shot into the bottom-left corner.

After then, Argentina controlled the game and had multiple excellent opportunities to tie the score, but in the 38th minute, Diouf delivered the knockout blow.

In the second minute of stoppage time, the South Americans were given a lifeline as they persisted in pressing. Despite the lack of apparent threat, Senegal custodian Serigne Diouf was only able to sweep the ball into his own net from Agustin Ruberto’s left free-kick.

Argentina applied late pressure, but Senegal held out for a historic triumph.
