UEFA Champions League UCL: Freund Wants Bayern To Avenge Frankfurt Defeat Against Man United

When Bayern Munich plays Manchester United in the Champions League on Tuesday, sporting director Christoph Freund says the team will be looking to avenge their shocking 5-1 loss to Eintracht Frankfurt over the weekend.

United is currently in last place and needs to defeat the Bundesliga champions in order to have any chance of joining Bayern, who have already won Group A and a spot in the last 16.

Though Thomas Tuchel’s team will be dangerous and injured after their embarrassing loss to Frankfurt, United may have thought Bayern would be less motivated for the match at Old Trafford.

We head to Manchester with the feeling that we to make amends,” Freund told the club’s website on Monday. “It’s good that we can get straight back to work after a game like the one in Frankfurt and put things right.

We have to show a reaction on the pitch.”

This season’s first Bundesliga loss for Bayern put them four points adrift of leaders Bayer Leverkusen.

Bayern has won 4-3 at home against United and has 13 points from their five Group A games.

United has to triumph and hope that Copenhagen and Galatasaray end up drawing.

It’s a Champions League game. Manchester United versus Bayern Munich is always special. There’s still a lot at stake for United and there’ll be a charged atmosphere,” Freund said.

“We want to produce a good performance and remain undefeated in the group.”
