In a fiercely contested Premier League London derby on Wednesday, Chelsea defeated Crystal Palace 2-1 at home thanks to a penalty kick from substitute Noni Madueke in the 89th minute.
Eberechi Eze knocked down Madueke, and VAR called referee Michael Salisbury to the screen to signify a foul after waving play on.
In first-half stoppage time, Michael Olise of Palace displayed excellent talent when, unmarked at the far post, he chested down a cross from Jordan Ayew and finished expertly beyond Djordje Petrovic.
The goal negated a goal by Chelsea attacker Mykhailo Mudryk, who scored after Malo Gusto’s low cross in the 13th minute.
Chelsea moved up the table to tenth place. Palace held onto the fifteenth spot.
