AFCON 2023: CAF suspends Morocco's coach for four matches

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has suspended the coach of the Moroccan team, Walid Regragui, for four matches following incidents that occurred after the match between Morocco and DR Congo which ended in a draw.

This is a big blow for Morocco in this 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. Against the DRC, coach Walid Regragui had an altercation with Chancel Mbemba at the end of the match and this caused excesses at the whistle final. Since then, the CAF has opened an investigation to rule on this controversy.

The results of this investigation are in. Walid Regragui is suspended 4 matches by CAF, two of which were suspended.

He will logically be absent during the evening match against Zambia as well as during the round of 16 of the Atlas Lions. It is his deputy Rachid Benmahmoud who should therefore take his place on the bench. The FRMF decided to appeal this decision and denounced an unfair decision in a press release.
