The thrilling match between Senegal and Ivory Coast in the Africa Cup of Nations round of 16 on Monday at Charles Konan Banny Stadium will see Senegal continue their championship defence.

The victor of this match between the top teams in Africa’s football league advances to the quarterfinals, where they will play either Burkina Faso or Mali, who play on Tuesday night in Korhogo.

Senegal is just three victories away from defending their AFCON championship after defeating the Ivory Coast 1-0 at the CAF African Nations Championship a little over a year ago. They will be hoping for a repeat of that victory.

The Lions of Teranga were the only side in the competition to win all three group stage matches, although surprise packages Equatorial Guinea and Cape Verde grabbed most of the attention throughout the group rounds.
