Cape Verde continues its series of invincibility.

After beating Ghana (2-1), Mozambique (3-0) and a draw against Egypt (2-2) in the group stage, they now beat Mauritania, thus validating their ticket for the quarter-finals of the competition.

The only goal of this match was scored by R. Mendes, after a penalty conceded by Mauritanian defender B. Niasse.

They will face the winner of the second match, which pits Senegal against host country Ivory Coast.
