Midfielder Conor Gallagher was referred to by Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino as “priceless” after he assisted the team in coming back from a goal down to defeat Crystal Palace 3-1 in the Premier League on Monday.

Following Chelsea’s first goal by Jefferson Lerma, the England international doubled their lead before Enzo Fernandez’s strike in the 94th minute cemented the win.

In the last two transfer windows, Gallagher—who has been linked to a move away from Stamford Bridge—has only missed one of Chelsea’s 24 league games this season due to suspension.

Pochettino described him as a player with “great commitment” to the team, and he has made more than 30 appearances in all competitions.

“Always trying to compensate every situation in an offensive and defensive situation and that is priceless to have a player like him,” he told reporters.

“I’m so happy for him and I’m so happy for the team because it’s a victory we needed, the three points.”

The last two league games for Chelsea, who are ranked tenth, were losses to Wolverhampton Wanderers and Liverpool.

About Gallagher’s future, the Argentine responded as follows: “What he told me was to stay at Chelsea. But then it’s about him and the club.

“I’m not suffering with this type of thing, he still has one year more on his contract.”

While happy with the win, Chelsea’s manager,Mauricio Conte, stated that his team needs to avoid giving up goals too soon in order to prepare for a string of challenging games, which includes league games against Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City as well as the League Cup final against Liverpool.

“We need to be more consistent, we need to start the game in a different way …,” Pochettino said.

“But yes, very pleased in the end because we needed the three points and now to prepare for the next week against Manchester City.

“That is going to be a good test for us before we prepare the final.”
