CAF Champions League Yanga SC thrash CR Belouizdad to qualify for quarter-finals

Tanzania Premier League champions Young Africans (Yanga SC) secured a massive 4-0 win over CR Belouizdad to qualify for the quarter-finals of the CAF Champions League on Saturday.

In the fixture at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam on Saturday, Mudathir Yahya Abas, Stephanie Aziz Ki, Kennedy Musonda and substitute Joseph Guede each contributed one goal for the hosts as they cruised to a comfortable victory.

Following the victory, Yanga reached eight from five matches as they wait to face Al Ahly in their last encounter of their Group D and progressed into the next stage courtesy of head-to-head goal advantage.

In the first game, the Tanzania’s giants lost 3-0 to Algerian. Miguel Gamondi’s men have since scored nine goals and conceded five goals in the process as they have a clear path to the last eight.

The Egyptian giants are currently leading the group with nine points, Yanga are second on eight points while CR Belouizdad sit third with five points and Ghana’s Madeama remain bottom with four points.
