Africa Soccer Brama Traore named new Burkina Faso head coach

The Burkinabe Football Federation (FBF) have announced the appointment of Brama Traore as their new head coach on Monday.

Burkina Faso had parted ways with French manager Hubert Velud following their elimination from the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). The Stallions finished second in their group but lost 2-1 to Mali in the round of 16 to crash out of the competition.

Just over a month after Velud’s departure, Burkina Faso have now found a replacement in former U20 and U23 coach Brama Traore. “I had most of the players at a young age, so I will be able to discipline them,” Traore said via France24.

“If you do well, you will be rewarded. If you do badly, you will not be in this team. I have been through all the youth selections for years. I have not skipped the steps, and I will do everything to bring the Stallions everywhere as far as possible.”

“After several experiences, we thought that it was now time to trust a national coach,” FBF president Lazare Banse added.
