Bundesliga Kane Set Bundesliga Record In Bayern 5-2 Win Against Darmstadt

With a 5-2 victory over Darmstadt 98 on Saturday, Harry Kane of Bayern Munich scored a league-high 31 goals, while Jamal Musiala added two more.

This put the champions of the Bundesliga within seven points of leaders Bayer Leverkusen.

With his 31st league goal in stoppage time in the first half, Kane gave Bayern, who will play Arsenal in the Champions League quarterfinals next month, a 2-1 lead.

This is more goals than any player has scored in their debut Bundesliga season.

In addition, the England captain—who cost the Bundesliga 100 million euros—set a personal league record.

He scored one goal in between Musiala’s two, but was injured and substituted late in the match after crashing into the post.

After the victory, Bayern is now in second place with 60 points. On Sunday, Leverkusen, who has 67 points, will visit Freiburg.

Although the visitors had the better of play from the beginning, Darmstadt took the lead in the 28th minute when Tim Skarke finished off a swift break that caught Bayern off guard.

After being selected for the Germany squad for friendlies later in March, teenaged Aleksandar Pavlovic dribbled past three opponents, rushed into the box, and found Kane, who passed to Musiala to finish the move in the 36th, so they did not have to wait long for an equaliser.

After that, in stoppage time, Kane completed their comeback with a diving header, but just before halftime, Oscar Vilhelmsson of Darmstadt nearly gave Bayern another.

They weren’t done yet, though, as Germany international Musiala, in incredible form, put the game to bed in the 64th minute with a spectacular solo run for his 10th league goal.

Mathys Tel and substitute Serge Gnabry both scored before Vilhelmsson added another goal for Darmstadt, who later struck the woodwork once more.
