Premier League Liverpool Reclaims Top Spot After Win Over Sheffield United

With a tense 3-1 home victory over bottom team Sheffield United on Thursday, Darwin Nunez’s bizarre opener after 17 minutes appeared to open the floodgates as Liverpool sought the win they needed to unseat Arsenal from top spot.

Liverpool now have 70 points from 30 games, two ahead of Arsenal and three ahead of champions Manchester City, both of whom won on Wednesday to increase the pressure.

The victory gave Liverpool the Premier League lead back in an exciting title race.

However, the Reds were far from their best, and just after halftime, an exciting United team startled the Anfield fans by equalising the scores through an own goal by Connor Bradley.

Before Mac Allister’s loose ball came out and he hammered a twisting right-foot strike into the top corner in the 76th minute, the visitors were capable of holding on for a shock point.

As Klopp gets ready to leave at the end of the season, Liverpool took another step towards the ideal send-off as Gakpo secured the points in the ninetieth minute.
