Nigerian Players abroad Ndidi Sets To Depart Leicester City

Wilfred Ndidi, a Nigerian international, will be leaving promotion-chasing Leicester City this summer when his contract expires.

Ndidi has been a vital member of the Foxes team, who gave up the top spot when he was out.

He helped them take four points from their last five league games, which included a run of three straight losses that erased their lead.

They were once 17 points ahead of Leeds United, and although if Enzo Maresca’s team is still in control, they will be worried about Leeds and Ipswich being so close in the standings and having lost their way.

The goal has been promotion the entire season, even though a number of Leicester’s best players left the King Power Stadium during the summer transfer window.

Two players in particular, Harvey Barnes and James Maddison, were expected to leave the team.

But they also kept a lot of Premier League players, including Ndidi, who had played a significant role in some of their most successful teams in the league’s history.

With only a few months left on his contract at Leicester, the 27-year-old, who arrived from Belgian team Genk for an estimated £17 million in 2017, has made 267 appearances for the Foxes.

Under Enzo Maresca, Ndidi has played a more advanced midfield role, which has somewhat altered his role but has paid off as the Nigerian has shown promise in the middle of the park.

He scored four goals and grabbed six more assists in his first 24 games of the season, solidifying his position as a vital player.
