UEFA Champions League UCL: Dortmund Defeat Atletico To Reach Semi Finals

Borussia Dortmund defeated Atletico Madrid 4-2 at home on Tuesday, advancing to the Champions League semifinals.

The team overcame a 2-1 deficit in the first leg to win the match 5-4 overall.

In the 34th minute, Julian Brandt tied the score on aggregate for Dortmund.

Five minutes later, Ian Maatsen cut in from the left and fired a superbly placed shot in at the foot of the far post to give Dortmund the lead in the quarterfinal match.

Diego Simeone, the coach of Atletico Madrid, made three substitutions during halftime, and it paid off almost instantly.

In the 49th minute, Dortmund defender Mats Hummels turned the ball into his own net, and in the 64th minute, substitute Angel Correa scored on his second attempt to give the Spanish team the lead again.

Niclas Fuellkrug’s incredible glancing header tied the score for the home team again, but three minutes later, Marcel Sabitzer scored the game-winning goal in front of a jubilant crowd.
