Ronald Araujo

Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo took on to his social media to apologise to the fans after his red card against Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday night.

The 25-year old was not having the best game of his career but things turned to worst when he was caught sleeping by PSG youngster Bradley Barcola in the 29th minute and he could not help but foul him as last defender.

Araujo was shown a straight red card and has been since subject to criticism on social media and even from his own teammate Ilkay Gündogan.

A day later, he broke silence and apologise to the fans : “The football that gave me so much joy is now hitting me hard. I thank everyone who is unconditionally by my side, my teammates who left everything on the pitch, and the supporters who believed in this team until the end. I am very sorry for not giving you this joy. We’ll try again. Força Barça, forever. God in control”, he wrote on Instagram.
