FA Cup FA Cup:Man City Defeat Wasteful Chelsea To Reach Final

After a thrilling end-to-end Wembley semi-final, Manchester City defeated Chelsea 1-0 on Saturday thanks to a late goal from Bernardo Silva to advance to the FA Cup final.

In the eighty-fourth minute, Silva scored with a sidefoot after Chelsea goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic had saved an effort from former Blues player Kevin De Bruyne.

The showcase match on May 25 will pit City against either Manchester United or Coventry City, who play on Sunday.

The outcome was somewhat comforting for Pep Guardiola’s team, since they were defeated by Real Madrid on penalties in the Champions League quarterfinals throughout the week.

With two points advantage over their rivals in the Premier League, City is still aiming for a double. Chelsea wasted some of the greatest opportunities, which came after their last trip to Wembley, when they were defeated by a late goal from Liverpool in extra time in the League Cup final two months ago.

Nicolas Jackson, was an especially wasteful person.

In the eighth minute, he attempted the first shot on goal, but Stefan Ortega of City comfortably stopped it. Jackson had two opportunities to put the ball away early in the second half, but Ortega intercepted each of them.

Mykhailo Mudryk’s last-ditch free kick went over the crossbar, capping a terrible afternoon for Chelsea and their manager Mauricio Pochettino.

Chelsea has now lost six of their last eight FA Cup matches against Manchester City, including one from the previous season’s third round.
