Nigeria Birmingham 2022: Team Nigeria Unveils Flagbearers Ahead Opening Ceremony

Team Nigeria’s leaders and flag bearers for the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, United Kingdom, in 2022 have been announced.

Nnamdi Innocent, a top male powerlifter from Nigeria, and Blessing Oborududu, a prominent female wrestler who won a silver medal at the most recent Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan, as well as a gold medal at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, are the leaders.

Nnamdi Chinecherem Prosper and Oluwafemiayo Foashade, a senior ladies powerlifter and the current holder of the world record for her division, will carry the flags at the opening ceremony on Thursday.

Prosper, a 20-year-old powerlifter who holds the country’s record in the javelin, will be aiming for a podium finish in Birmingham, while veteran Folashade will be looking for another “golden” performance for Nigeria.

On Thursday at 7:15 p.m., the Alexander Stadium in Birmingham, United Kingdom, will host the opening ceremony of the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
