The Franco-Congolese is automatically qualified for the second round of the tournament in Marseille.

The No. 1 French will face Nikolay Davydenko. Tsonga has much to do before the 43rd World Cup.

He won the tournament by winning successively against Andrey Golubev (7-6, 6-2) Simone Bolelli (6-3, 6-2), Feliciano Lopez (6-2, 6-7, 6-4), and then seeded the No. 1, Novak Djokovic (6-4, 7-61), that he beat for the fourth time in less than a year.

In the final, he won over his compatriot Michael Llodra in straight sets 7-5, 7-6.
