Africa Nigeria’s John Ogu set to return to action

Nigeria midfielder John Ogu is set to return to action this weekend for Associação Académica de Coimbra after almost one month away on the sidelines due to injury.

After more than a month of inactivity, Ogu is set to return to action this weekend against Vitória Setúbal.

The 25-year-old midfielder has been on the sidelines due to a knee complaint since late March but trained without difficulty with the rest of the Académica de Coimbra squad on Wednesday.

In the Nigerian’s absence, Académica lost two games in the Portuguese Primeira Liga and had to fire Coach Pedro Emanuel, who convinced Ogu to snub offers from Denmark (OB Odense) and Sporting Braga last summer.

The 6ft 3 in midfielder has made 18 appearances (10 starts) in the Portuguese league but is still searching for his first goal.

With three matches to go before the end of the season, Académica are in 13th position, just 3 points ahead of relegation candidate Moreirense.
