Africa Ivorian goalkeeper out for eight weeks

Sabri Lamouchi’s team now faces a big blow that has been ahead of them for years.

Ivory Coast who currently lays head of Group C of the World Cup qualifiers just after the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations have their goalkeeper Copa Barry with a pulled shoulder muscle

The Elephants’ keeper suffered the injury on Saturday during warm-up preceding the Jupiler Pro League week 26 clash between his club Lokeren and Zulte-Waregem.

This could lead to his absence for eight weeks which could count him as not been part of the squad for the 2014 World Cup qualifiers on the 22nd March, 2013 against Gambia.

This is a heavy blow for Sabri Lamouchi’s team, who has not managed to find a real solution to the issue of a replacement for the 33-year goalkeeper for years now.

Côte d’Ivoire is currently lying at the head of Group C of these qualifiers, ahead of Tanzania, Morocco and Gambia.
