Fighting Squash or Wrestling: Which sport at the Olympics?

The struggle is bitter between lovers of squash and the Greco-Roman wrestling for a spot in the Olympics. The first has never been on the agenda of the Olympics, while the second is about to be removed. Suddenly, it mobilizes.

As Africa Top Sports and its consultant Basile Boli, at the initiative of Olympic champion Steeve Guénot, an event was held on Monday to support the wrestling for it to remain Olympic.

Petition “Wrestling at the Olympics: you must do something” runs for several days. The FFLutte (French Federation of Wrestling) also increases the spots with its athletes. You can read about the sites: “The Olympics without a wrestling like Paris without the Eiffel Tower.”

Roger Federer supports the Olympic squash

The fight is just as media across. A fan of squash, a little-known sport but to a large increase also asserts itself. They also managed to get hold of one of the most respected athletes on the planet: the Swiss tennis player Roger Federer. The world No. 1 is playing a spot made for the application of squash in the Olympics, along with the number 1 female in this discipline, Nicol Ann David.

Other means of action such as opening a Twitter account (@ Vote4Squash) or the hashtag # vote4squash are also used. A “World Day of squash” was also set at 20 October 2013.

Between wrestling and squash, one must be included in the program of the Olympic Games in 2020. The IOC’s decision will be announced in September.
