Africa Soccer MALAWI: Silver Strikers coach Dan Kabwe downplays finishing problems

Silver Strikers’ Zambian coach Dan Kabwe has played down concerns about his Lilongwe team’s failure to convert scoring chances created in recent warm up matches for the domestic season in Malawi.

The 2020/21 season kicks off with a Charity Shield scheduled for November 21 2020, followed by the TNM Super League kick-off a week later.

To put his charges in shape, Kabwe had Silver play friendlies in recent weeks, drawing 0-0 and 1-1 against Kamuzu Barracks (KB) FC over the weekend, days after going down 2-0 to Tigers in Blantyre.

However, after the back-to-back draws against KB, the former Zanaco and Power Dynamos mentor choose to look at the positives drawn from the friendlies.

“After the matches, head coach Daniel Kabwe said he is encouraged by the shape the team is in and they now will focus on the areas they noticed during the training match but he is happy with the number of chances created in the two games,” Silver website reports.

Silver will continue with their preparations by playing against Red Lions behind closed doors of Silver Stadium in Lilongwe.

The league in Malawi runs from March to December but this season it has delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

However, now the authorities in Malawi have given the nod for a return to football action.
