Foot Africa Kheireddine Zetchi Announced His Candidacy For The FIFA Council

Candidacies continue for the CAF (African Football Confederation) Elective General Assembly in March 2021. Kheireddine Zetchi, head of the FAF (Algerian Football Federation) is applying to the FIFA Council.

It was pending a few weeks ago. At the end of an ordinary Congress of his body last month, Zetchi had announced an Algerian candidacy. Without specifying whether it would be for the CAF or FIFA. But according to Footafrique, the president of the FAF finally chose.

The head of the Paradou Academy is committed to the Arabic-Portuguse-Spanish Group at the FIFA Council. The two released seats are highly coveted. Besides Zetchi, Moroccan Fawzi Lekjaa and Equato-Guinean Gustavo Ndong are also in the starting blocks.

Meanwhile, Nigerian Amaju Pinnick is running for the Council on behalf of the English-speaking Group.

It’s reportedly said that Kenyan Nick Mwendwa and Tanzanian Wallace Karia are also targeting the post.

The next elective assembly is scheduled for 12 March 2021 in Rabat, Morocco.
