Africa Soccer CAF CHAMPIONS LEAGUE : CLEAN SHEET EXCITES AL-MERRIKH COACH

Al-Merrikh coach Didier Gomes has saluted his charges for sticking to the game plan when hammering Enyimba FC 3-0 in a midweek CAF Champions League qualifying game.

We achieved an important massive victory over Enyimba FC, and the good thing is that we didn’t concede. Really proud of my players, they did exactly what I asked them.

“In the first half, we suffered a bit on the left side but we handled it in the second half, then everything goes well. We’ll keep working to prepare our team for the second leg. I am satisfied with the result based on the hard work we have been doing in the last days before the game and what we were doing in our training sessions,” Gomes tweeted.

Enyimba host the Sudanese giants in the second leg of the first round on the weekend of January 6.

Saifeldin Maki scored a hat trick in the first leg played in Sudan and was named man of the match for the second time in three games.
