Africa Soccer NPFL: Kano Pillars mourns demise of former chairman

Nigeria Professional Football League(NPFL) side Kano Pillars has announced the demise of it’s former chairman Alhaji Danlami Hamza.

Kano Pillars in a statement on Monday said the late Danlami died on Sunday after a brief illness.

However, sources said the former lawmaker died of COVID-19.

Hamza, who was said to have been  admitted on Saturday at a COVID-19 isolation centre at Kwanar Dawaki in Kano, but died on Sunday afternoon.

The club in a condolence message signed by current chairman, Alhaji Surajo Shuaibu Jambul expressed their shocked and sadness over the demise of the former chairman of the club.

Alhaji Surajo described the former chairman, who previously served the people of Fagge LGA at the Federal House of Representatives as a hard-working and committed somebody who sacrifice his life in nation building.

 

The chairman then on behalf of the players, technical crew, management board and the entire fans of the club extended their condolences to the immediate family of the deceased and Kano state Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

 

 He maintained that contributions of late Alhaji Danlami Hamza towards the development of Kano Pillars FC can not be overemphasized and would not be forgotten in the history of the club.

 

He prayed to Almighty Allah to forgive his shortcomings and urged his family to bear the loss.

The former lawmaker represented Fagge Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives between 1999 and 2011 on the platform of the defunct All People’s Party.

He also contested against the present lawmaker, Aminu Sulaiman Goro, in 2015 but lost the election again.
