Africa Soccer MOZAMBIQUE : Several Portuguese coaches linked with Mambas job

Several Portuguese coaches, including Luís Norton de Matos, have been linked with the vacant coaching job for Mozambique.

Mozambican Football Federation is looking for a replacement for Luís Gonçalves.

His contract was terminated after failing qualify for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations finals.

Now reports in Mozambique say the experienced 67-year-old Maton might be the favourite for the job.

Matos, who coached Guinea-Bissau, has enough experience for the job.

He is currently working as Lille’s training football coordinator in France.

Other reports have linked former Liverpool defender, Abel Xavier, with a possible return to the position.

Mozambique under-20 coach Dário Monteiro and Chiquinho Conde’s names have also been suggested for the job.

The new coach will be tasked with guiding the Mambas in the qualifiers for the World Cup 2022.
