Premier League Graham Potter explained Percy Tau omission in Burnley game

Percy Tau

Despite being included in Brighton’s 2021/22 season squad, Percy Tau has been left aside by Seagulls’ boss Graham Potter for their Premier League opener against Burnley on Saturday.

The 28-year old future is still cloudy as Brighton & Hove Albion failed to reveal concrete reasons of his absence in Saturday’s 1-2 win over Burnley.

Tau’s presence in Brighton squad for this season was supposed to put his Al Ahly in jeopardy.

However, this is not the case as the South African striker has been dropped again by Potter.

Asked to reveal the reason why he left out the former Mamelodi Sundowns star as he did in their final preseason game against La Liga side Getafe, Potter just responded that it was for “personal reasons”.

Meantime, Al Ahly and his head coach Pitso Mosimane are waiting for him in Cairo as the South African gaffer who contributed to rise to prominence during his time at Sundowns, want to give him another chance in Egypt.

“He has to decide if he wants to play football, but first he must look after the finances”, Mosimane said in a recent interview, as reported by Soccer Laduma.

“If he can get the same money that he was getting in the EPL at Al Ahly, then he can be the king of the continent, king of the jungle if he is happy to come on board and happy to show people what he is capable of, he’s not showing people what he is capable of, he’s about to retire, he’s 28,” added Jingles.
