FIFA CLUB WORLD CUP FIFA Arab Cup: Algeria Defender Bedrane Puts Country First Ahead of Egypt Game

Algerian defender Abdelkader Bedrane said he is ready to defend his country color ahead of the Saturday FIFA Arab Cup final against Tunisia in Qatar.

Both North Africa giants will face off for the price in the Arab cup after booking their place in the final.

Tunisia reached the final following the 1-0 slim win over Egypt while a dramatic goal from which Youcef Belaili who scored from the spot earned Algeria the win against Qatar.

Bedrane has been plying his trade with Tunisia’s Esperance since 2019 and will be facing several teammates in what is sure to be a special final for him.

He said “It’s true that I play in the Tunisian league, but here I’m representing Algeria, so it goes without saying that I’ll be defending my country’s colours,” he explained.

 “When we play for the national team, there’s no room for emotions. The game against Tunisia will be difficult.

“We know each other very well but we’ll do all we can to win,” the defender added.

Defender in an interview with FIFA.com spoke of his readiness to represent his country and put any club sentiment aside.

In the success story of the Desert Foxes,Bedrane said Algeria deserve to win the title having played against Egypt, Morocco, and Qatar, and remain undefeated.

“Our campaign hasn’t been easy. We’ve played against big teams such as Egypt, Morocco and Qatar, all of which were very physically demanding games,” he explained.

“We’ve achieved our first goal, so now we’ll rest a bit and then focus on the final. Winning the title is now our sole objective,” he insisted.
