Africa Soccer Augustine Eguavoen to Nigerian fans : ‘We’ll come back stronger’

Augustine Eguavoen

Augustine Eguavoen showed his gratefulness to the Nigerian fans for their support during the ongoing AFCON 2021 and promised them that Super Eagles will bounce back from their disappointing campaign in Cameroon.

Nigeria were not listed among the favourites to win the ongoing 2021 Africa Cup of nations but they proved all the world wrong with a great display in the group stages as they won all of their three games with a winning start against Mohamed Salah’s Egypt.

However, they disappointed people, their fans more even as they failed to beat Tunisia who struggled in the group stages in the round of 16 and bowed out of the competition after a 0-1 loss.

However, Augustine Eguavoen urged the fans to keep supporting Super Eagles as they will come back stronger.

“Our greatest strength is in the fact that we always come back stronger. Your support of the Team over the past few weeks has been exceptional”, Eguavoen wrote on his Twitter account.

“Thank you Naija, we will be back.”

In addition, Nigeria will take in two months for the 2022 Qatar World Cup play-off with the first leg taking place in Ghana on March 23 and the return leg six days later at Abiola Stadium in Abuja.

It’s yet to be known whether Eguavoen will still lead the Super Eagles or will he resign for Portuguese manager José Peseiro who was hired in December.
