Africa Soccer Patrice Motsepe Represented By CAF General Secretary At CECAFA General Assembly In Tanzania

The Annual General Assembly of Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) took place in Arusha, Tanzania on Friday. The event saw the presence of the General Secretary of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Veron Mosengo-Omba.  

Mosengo-Omba who represented CAF President, Dr. Patrice Motsepe commended the leadership and members of CECAFA for the good work in developing football. 

President Motsepe has, a few months ago, visited the CECAFA region. Because he recognises the role this Zone is playing in developing football. I know he wanted to be here but unfortunately couldn’t make it because of other commitments.” Mosengo-Omba told delegates.

The CAF General Secretary thanked CECAFA for being organized and being able to stage competitions regularly. 

He reiterated the willingness of CAF President to strengthen capacity in the Zonal Associations and also support the new Schools Championship. “When Dr. Motsepe was voted President of CAF, the Zones featured high in his priority list. He also made sure that financial assistance was increased for the Zonal Associations.” Said Mosengo-Omba.

The AGM, chaired by CECAFA President, Wallace Karia, was attended by CAF Third Vice President Souleiman Hassan Waberi and CAF EXCO member Moses Magogo.

During his speech, President Karia praised CAF President Dr Motsepe for his leadership in ensuring that the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations Cameroon 2022 was a success.

Other Presidents and delegates from Member Associations present were Uganda, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Djibouti, Rwanda, Burundi and Zanzibar.
